For ages 12+
Painting Class is an immersive and skill-building course designed for students eager to refine their painting abilities and bring their artistic visions to life. This class focuses on mastering a wide array of painting techniques, allowing students to create stunning textures, dynamic forms, and expressive works of art. By exploring foundational and advanced methods such as dry brushing, blending, layering, paint sketching, and wet painting, students will gain the technical proficiency needed to elevate their craft.
Patience and precision are integral aspects of the learning process in this course. Students will develop an eye for proportion and detail, enabling them to create balanced and harmonious compositions. To fully benefit from the class, some prior drawing experience is required, ensuring that students have the confidence and foundational skills needed to tackle the challenges of brushwork and mixed media techniques.
Throughout the course, students will work on a diverse range of subject matter, including still-life arrangements, animals, portraits, fantasy themes, and landscapes. Each project is designed to challenge their creativity and adaptability, while also encouraging exploration of their unique artistic voice.
Watercolor and acrylic paints serve as the primary mediums, offering students opportunities to experiment with both fluid, translucent washes and bold, opaque layers. To add depth and complexity to their work, students will also incorporate colored pencils for mixed-media finishes, blending elements of drawing and painting to create truly distinctive masterpieces.
