Doris Rivera

Doris has loved being creative ever since she could remember. She never wanted to blend into the crowd and found ways to connect with others through her creative nature. Doris finds ways to connect with students in the same way, by teaching them her love of creative art. She loves art in every form and strongly believes that everyone should have the opportunity to learn a creative way to express themselves. It is great to teach students to have a creative outlet in this world. This is one of the many reasons she loves working with kids. She strives to nurture and expand their creative expression and imagination.
Outside of the studio, Doris is a Digital Creator who spends most of her time in nature, trying new foods, at the gym, or learning something new. She never stops finding new ways to express herself in the world and hopes to leave a positive impact on her students.
Daisy Warren
Instructor | Student Volunteer
Artistic freedom is at the heart of Daisy’s philosophy of teaching as she helps kids become aware of their inner talents then to express them. She believes that virtually everyone is naturally inclined to art. Too often, though, kids assume they have to be “perfect” in their work and feel frustrated when they think they’ve fallen short. Daisy sees this as being misguided, that art should be fun and spontaneous. Yes, it’s important to learn techniques and to get exposed to the array of possibilities that art offers, but gaining the confidence and having the freedom to create is just as important. There are no “mistakes.”
Although still in high school, Daisy has long been promoting art for young people. She’s actually founded three clubs devoted to the cause: The Art Works, which provides a safe space for students at Del Norte High School to create art; Art Cares San Diego, which brings art to other Poway Unified School District campuses; The Untitled Club that shares student art via student-made magazines and other pubs.
An artist since age five, Daisy has already had art training through the RISD advanced pre-college program and the Fine Art lessons at the Watts Atelier of the Arts. Currently, she focuses on assembling montages as well as blending painting with sculpture.
