Learn more about Sketching Essentials
Sketching Essentials is a 1.5 hr weekly art class for anyone looking to build a strong foundation in drawing. Focusing on both still life and live figure sketching, this course emphasizes the importance of mastering the basics: form, line, and shadow. Through simple yet expressive techniques, students will develop their observational skills, learning how to capture the essence of subjects without the pressure of completing polished works. By concentrating on raw sketches and shading, participants will gain a deeper understanding of proportion, light, and contrast—skills that form the backbone of all art forms. Whether you aim to pursue painting, sculpture, or digital art, mastering these fundamentals is crucial for growth in any artistic journey.

Studio Art 1
for ages 12 yrs +
In Studio Art 1, students will work on “themes” together for the majority of their projects. These themes will explore realism, fantasy, conceptual, study, portrait, and impressionism. Each project will switch mediums and include watercolor, acrylic, pencil, colored pencil, and chalk pastel. Students will learn to incorporate lighting and proportions into their work.
This class will help students to understand how to find their details, and what details are important to a picture's development. Enjoy seasonal, creature, still life, scenery, and design in all of your projects.
Drawings and paintings in this class will typically take more than one class to complete. Students are encouraged to understand what makes a finished work, and how to add their personal flair.
